Premier Data Systems optimizes resource utilization and minimizes downtime by creating a hyperconverged IT environment around StarWind Virtual SAN (VSAN)
CHALLENGE
Before implementing StarWind Virtual SAN (VSAN), Premier Data Systems relied on Microsoft Hyper-V hosts with replication and manual failover and aimed to transition to a hyperconverged setup. However, the move required costly Windows Server Datacenter licenses and additional hardware, which posed a budgetary challenge.
The company needed a solution that could integrate seamlessly with its existing setup, provide high availability (HA), and eliminate the need for additional hardware and software.
With StarWind VSAN, we can now build 2 “normal” physical hosts and create a hyperconverged setup without datacenter OS or SAN hardware. Support has been #1. This was our primary reason for going with StarWind and we are happy with our decision.

SOLUTION
Premier Data Systems chose StarWind VSAN based on positive reviews, flexible hardware compatibility, and outstanding support. StarWind enabled the company to move to hyperconvergence using just two standard physical hosts, eliminating the need for costly OS licenses or extra hardware. The implementation process went smoothly, with StarWind Support Team being instrumental in the setup.
The new infrastructure powered by StarWind VSAN, tested through regular failovers, has worked flawlessly, and Premier Data Systems has saved an estimated $5,000 to $10,000. Looking forward, they plan to continue building these efficient clusters for small businesses and emergency services.
